Bununla da Gültac Məmmədəliyeva da olimpiada da mübarizəsini birinci mərhələdəcə başa vurdu. Gərgin idman mübarizəsi şəraitində baş tutan görüşün qızıl hissəsində rəqib vaza-ari xalı əldə etdi və qələbə qazandı. Olimpiadanın 1/16 final mərhələsində onun rəqibi ABŞ nümayəndəsi Angelica Delgado idi.
